The Birdathon is an annual event held each June coinciding with Montana’s peak migration. The event is an excellent way to develop bird identification skills and for new and old Yellowstone Valley Audubon Society members to get involved in the organization.
The Birdathon is a competitive birding and fund raising event which features teams of two or more persons, at least one of which needs to have bird identification skills. Teams solicit pledges for contributions to YVAS, then they identify as many bird species as they can during a designated 24 hour period, usually the first weekend in June. Bird lists are shared and tabulated together on completion of the event.
YVAS members and others can contribute by making pledges of a flat dollar amount or on a per-bird species identified basis. Donations can also be sought from outside organizations and businesses.
Persons who are interested in participating or who have questions should contact Ruth Vanderhorst at firstname.lastname@example.org or 245-5118. Watch the Yellowstone Flyer for registration forms and updates.
